Inspecting the disc, I saw there was a visible defect (3 mm long) in the writing surface which had stopped the laser from writing. This prompted me to inspect the rest of the pack. Another disc had a visible bump looking like a fiber/dust had got in during the coating process. Half of the blanks were dirty.The pack I received has ID Philip R04 000. Label does not indicate country of origin. If you browse for BD-R media, you will find that disc ID is no longer a definitive label of manufacturer any more. Apparently, for a while they were made in Netherlands (the good ones), beginning to be made in India, and now rumors are they may be contracted out to CMC Mag. Of course, all with the same ID. Dye is dark blue and writes ok otherwise with a LG BH12 using ImgBurn. With such poor quality control I worry about their longevity. Will NOT buy another. I am very unhappy about the... Read more 19 of 22 people found the following review helpful Unuseable Optical Quantum 25gb BD, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Optical Quantum 25GB 4X BD-R Logo Top Spindle - 25 pcs (Electronics) From a spindle of 25 "discs", 8 were found to be useable, the rest are "coasters".1 Year old Dell 420 XPS, W7 Pro, 8gb RAM, New HP 12X BD/DVD/CD Burner bd340i, no other burner problems, just these discs. No 3rd party application used for burning. Either BD image files or Data files were being burned to the disc by W7. Problems were mainly "can't write to the disc" or "wrong disc speed". Most of the time, a few tracks were burned and then the disc rejected. I went through the stack of "coasters" a second time and recovered one. Locally procured spindle of Memorex 25gb BD 4X discs are batting 100%, no coasters. Of all the DVD and BD discs burned, these Opt Quant discs have been the ONLY rejects. You need to be shipping a sympathy card with each spindle of these Optical Quantum "coasters", or list them with the party supplies. I find the product unuseable and not recommended for purchase by any Amazon shoppers. The rating should be zero... And The last two from ordered from other place are all perfect. But this time, I really felt like got some 'B stock'. I just used the last disc today. And out of all 25 discs, at least 10 of them failed. |
